Bastian Schweinsteiger, member of the German National Soccer Team, becomes an ambassador for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The famous midfielder of the FC Bayern and member of the German
National Team just agreed to join the organizing committee (OC) as an
ambassador for the Alpine World Ski Championships 2011.
“I’m very pleased to represent the Championships in
Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Before I became a professional soccer player, I
was a keen ski racer. In the junior league I have even competed against
Felix Neureuther”, explained Schweinsteiger.
The engagement of Bastian Schweinsteiger is a positive gesture and
finally a result of a good cooperation between the German Soccer
Federation (DFB) and the OC of the Alpine World Ski Championships 2011.
Therefore Bastian Schweinsteiger is the first ambassador beyond
alpine skiing. The centre person of ambassadors of the FIS Alpine World
Ski Championships, even during the application, is of course Rosi
Mittermaier. The ambassador-concept of the OC is directed to win more
VIPs over different areas of public interest and different
nationalities to gain the attention of this major event.
