One of the most important tasks of the organizers of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 is to provide accommodation facilities for teams and officials during the event. Around 1.100 athletes, trainers, coaches, medical attendants, doctors and officials coming from over 60 different nations have to be accommodated.Counting an average length of stay of 11 days this summarizes up to around 12.000 nights from the sports side only.
Nearby accommodation in the center of attention
The main objective of the Organizing Committee is to provide the best possible accommodation for all teams and officials. In the center of attention for the selection of the “Official Team Hotels” is nearby and ideal accommodation for our athletic guests. The “Team Hotels” are all located within a 15-minute drive to the media center, to the training facilities and competition venues. The standard of the hotels varies between three and four stars.
Early agreement with the hotels
To achieve thorough and solid budget planning it is essential to find accommodation solutions the soonest possible. The Managing Director of the Organizing Committee Peter Fischer succeeded already three and a half years before the beginning of the event to conclude negotiations. Contracts between the hotels in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and its neighbour city Grainau were signed in September 2007. Contractually guarantied are total capacities of 1.100 beds during the time of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011.
Team Hotels are experienced
This early agreement proves how deeply the hoteliers and “GAP-Tourismus” support the Championships 2011. Managing director Peter Fischer: “We are more than happy that we were able to secure the necessary capacities of beds so soon. Many thanks to the hoteliers of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau, they show great readiness to cooperate with us.
The Team Hotels have a lot of experience in hosting top athletes. Most of them have been “Partner Hotels” of the Organizing Committee of the FIS World Cup for many years and have demonstrated their special qualities in hosting international teams.
